Our Story
THE GIRLS PRIDE INITIATIVES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (TGPI) is a youth– led organization and was founded by Borisade, Ayobami Bisola on the 20th of February 2020. The organization started with the coming together of energetic students and youth activists with the objectives of educating and empowering the girl child to be a self – sufficient individual in the society through implementation of strategic gender specific programs, they realized the necessity of this establishment as a means of contributing to the development of the girl child and achievement of some of the United Nations sustainable development goals. Another motivating factor for the establishment of the organization is the high rate of teenage pregnancy and school drop outs among the female gender especially in some of our rural communities in the south – western part of the country, therefore the founding team saw the need to engage in implementation of holistic gender specific sensitization and empowerment of the girl child.

Over the years TGPI has been committed to promoting girls health, education, empowerment and rights through advocacy, capacity building and awareness creation, the organization also advocates against gender based violence experienced by girls, especially girls with disabilities. We have empowered and added value to adolescent girls, girls with disabilities and youths in rural communities through our programmes and interventions. We have also intervened in bringing to limelight the need to address the issue of violence and discrimination experienced by girls and women with disabilities through our project tagged TAND (The Abled – not – Disabled) and further made provisions for them to seek referrals to professional bodies for prompt and effective corrective action.
